Education
Mark started studying drums and percussion at the age of nine. He won the outstanding musicianship award from Dulaney High School during his senior year. Mark then went on to do his Bachelor of Music degree studies in performance at Peabody Conservatory of Music. While at Peabody he performed as a soloist with many of the ensembles including the Peabody Symphony Orchestra, Wind ensemble, Contemporary music ensemble, and Percussion ensemble. He also has extensive professional experience performing many various styles which include Symphonic Percussion, Pit Orchestras (musicals, ballets, and operas) Jazz, Rock, Funk, R+B, Brazilian, Afro Cuban, as well as studio work. Mark has been fortunate enough to have studied with the following instructors: Nat Conway of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and National Symphony Orchestra. John Soroka – Principal Percussionist of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra; as well as Chris Williams of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra.

Performing Experience
Mark has also played with the Following Players: Jimmie Van Zant 2002-2007 Tours Artimus Pyle – Lynyrd Skynyrd, Jeff Carlisli – 38 Special Charlie Hargrett – Blackfoot Nils Lofgren – Grin, Neil Young, Bruce Springsteen Mark has opened or headlined shows with Ted Nugent, Travis Tritt, Molly Hatchett, Blackfoot, Mark Farner (Grand Funk Railroad),Foghat, Charlie Daniels, Marshall Tucker Band, Kenny Wayne Sheppard, Jackle, Twisted Sister, Slaughter, Quiet Riot, Kansas, Warrant, Great White, Pat Travers Band, as well as many other national groups.

Other Information
Mark Jones is the owner and director of the Baltimore School for Drumming which was established back in 1997. Mark is currently endorsed by Vic Firth. He is well versed in all styles of rock and contemporary drumming, as well as Afro-Cuban, Brazilian, and Jazz drumming. His lessons also include classical and rudimental snare drumming working with linear and layered patterns, double bass drumming, polyrhythms, as well as instruction on all mallet keyboard percussion. He is able to create a highly effective and enjoyable learning experience for each and every student. Mark’s goal is to make his students well rounded in as many playing styles as possible, as well as to help each student find their own unique expression on their respective instrument. Many of Marks students have gone on to some of the top music schools in the country as well as successful professional careers.
